Mehran Hashemi, known by his pen name Hush M E, is a poet and multidisciplinary artist born on December 11, 1993, in Tehran, Iran. His poetry explores love, loss, resilience, and the fleeting beauty of existence. Influenced by the untimely death of his father at twelve, Mehran’s work delves deeply into themes of grief, self-reflection, and emotional struggle, including financial hardships, depression, and panic attacks.
Although he began studying industrial engineering, Mehran’s path took a different turn due to the demands of work, and he holds a high school diploma in mathematics with certifications in pharmacy technology, electrical engineering (Building Electrical Technician and Industrial Electrical Technician), and ICDL.
Beyond writing, Mehran has a passion for music, particularly instrumental and Indian music, which inspires his poetry. He also worked in 3D animation, expanding his creative expression. Additionally, his interest in photography leads him to capture fleeting beauty in the sky.
Mehran’s books, including Light Needs Darkness to Shine (2023), Drinking Ink (2024), Caged Hope (2024), and Homeless Thoughts (2025), have received excellent feedback. He has contributed to anthologies like My Sad is Sadder Than Yours (2023), Poets Straight from the Notes App (2024), and Musing Around at Midnight (2024). He also collaborated on Thunderstroke (2025), a work exploring survival after a stroke.
A self-published author, Mehran handles every aspect of his book creation. Fluent in English and proficient in German, he is actively engaged with a global literary community through social media, where he shares his poetry and creative journey.
Through his work, Mehran seeks to find meaning in the transient nature of human emotions, offering a voice to the voiceless and a home for the homeless thoughts of the soul.

He finally agreed to let his friends send him his books!
Despite offers from other writers and friends, he never agreed to receive his books because he felt he deserved to buy them himself. However, it wasn’t possible to order from Amazon in his country. Almost a year after the publication of his first book, and a few months after the publication of his second and third books, he was convinced to get them all because he wanted to see his mother and his two little nieces touch his books. It was a great deal for him!
The lovely Deborah Small, a writer from the UK, kindly offered to send Mehran’s books to him. He was thrilled to receive them on August 29, 2024.
I love photography!
